So you want to know the secrets behind the glamorous and chic bodies parading up and down the Sunset Strip? Obviously, vigorous dieting and top notch fitness gurus play a huge role in keeping the Hollywood elite looking sleek. But, there are three important MUST-DOs that every sun-kissed beauty in LaLa Land should undergo. It is simple really. You must NIP it, TUCK it, and LIPO suck it.

Plastic surgery is by far the number one way to achieve the youthful and sculpted allure of the stars. I am the first person who can attest to this as I had my first surgery when I was just 16 years old and my most recent, just five months ago. Let it be known that I lost 150 pounds. My surgeries came more out of necessity than vanity. I had your typical “Hollywood” procedures, including a tummy tuck, lower-body lift, and two gynecomastia reductions. Having plastic surgery completed my journey and if undergoing this makes one happy, then I believe it is something you should do, in moderation.

After plastic surgery, celebrities in sunny California tend to subject themselves to rigid diets, bordering on starvation. Trust me when I say these diets are what produce the rail thin physiques we see splashed all over newsstands. I too was once a follower of this method and it resulted in a rapid 40 pound weight loss. The problem in this lies with the fact that diets consisting of unlimited AIR consumption are not true lifestyle changes. The weight generally comes back. If a “crash” diet is employed without making a true shift toward healthier living, beauty will simply become a temporary facade with limited longevity. But this is the thing about Los Angeles, people are simply more interested in becoming beautiful instantly instead of taking small steps to become beautiful more gracefully.

Is this what Michael thinks of perfect bodies?

The final ingredient in the Hollywood image-obsessed cocktail is super human exercise. Celebrities typically work-out with highly sought after trainers and spend hour after hour in the gym. I am the first person to tell you that consistent exercise is key to not only beauty on the outside but good general health inside. But when does excessive working-out become a detriment to our bodies? To this I can once again attest as I have done things that push not only the body over the edge, but the mind as well. For example, I have in the past played tennis for five hours, hit the gym for three hours, and then ran a handful of miles in the evening. Just as excessive plastic surgery and rigid dieting provide a fast-track to beauty, excessive exercise too, will not sustain its results long term.

The bottom line here is that if you want to be beautiful, you need to focus on creating a healthy lifestyle first. The true Hollywood stars are more than happy to admit they have enhanced their appearances through plastic surgery but also must eat correctly in order to stay thin. Instead of dieting, they try to make healthy choices and indulge only minimumly. My rule of thumb is that if you want a cookie, eat a cookie. If you deprive yourself of something you are craving, you are likely going to overindulge later. This happens to be the number one reason why diets fail. When it comes to working-out, it is more important to stay active then to kill yourself in the gym. Just as eating goes, if you are always exercising to the extreme, you will be less likely to continue working out over a longer period of time.

My number one piece of advice is to accept and love yourself. It is my belief that the people who radiate true beauty, who are the true stars, are the ones who love themselves inside and out. It is only after I stopped comparing myself to others and accepted myself for being me, was I able to start my 150 pound weight loss journey. Forget about trying to learn the beauty secrets of the stars or wanting to match the image Hollywood portrays on our television screens and start learning what is best for you. Take the necessary TIME to begin the journey to a healthy lifestyle… as slow and steady wins the race. AND love yourself, this is the key to true beauty.
